France reopens to unvaccinated Brits

31 Mar 2022

As the UK moves to France’s green travel list, unvaccinated Brits are now permitted to travel to France providing they show a negative Covid test.

According to France’s consul général in London, Guillaume Bazard on Twitter: “On March 31, the United Kingdom will be placed on the green list.

“Abolition of compelling reasons for non-vaccinated travellers, who will have to present a negative test (72 hour PCR or 48 hour TAG) entry into force upon publication in the Official Journal.”

Ahead of the change to the rules, unvaccinated people were not permitted entry into the country except for essential reasons for travel approved by authorities, reports The Express. If travel was allowed, visitors had to isolate for a week upon arrival in France.

Following the emergence of the Omicron variant, France implemented stricter travel curbs, with UK travellers completely banned from the country for a period of time.

In addition, vaccinated Britons will not have to complete the French passenger locator form and can enter the country with proof of vaccination. Those who had a second jab over 270 days ago will be required to have a booster jab to be deemed vaccinated in France.

Children under the age of 12 remain exempt from the testing and proof of vaccination requirement, reports The Independent.

The decision taken by France follows other European countries scrapping all Covid entry requirements and the majority of domestic rules before the Easter holidays.

It was thought that Spain’s regulations would be relaxed at the end of this month, yet they have been extended by the government until 30th April.
