Peugeot Citroën hires interim operators from Manpower

French automobile manufacturer, PSA Peugeot Citroën, has reached an agreement with American human resource giant, Manpower Group, to hire 300 industrial-site operators that would work on a temporary basis.

By the end of 2015, 100 employees will be recruited through Manpower to serve within Peugeot Citroën’s Sochaux site. 100 more are set to be hired by 2016, with another 100 employment contracts to be issued throughout a number of sites in 2017.

The focus on recruiting temporary labour is motivated by Peugeot Citroën’s need for industrial and operational flexibility. Furthermore, employment of interim workers helps the car giant comply with union demands, who have continuously called for enhanced levels of security for temporary employees.

Xavier Chéreau, human resources director at Peugeot Citroën illustrated, “The economic performance of a company is inseparable from its social and human performance. I welcome the signing of this innovative partnership that can meet the challenges of social responsibility PSA registering these people in a logic of employment contract of indefinite duration. We brainstormed and developed with Manpower new solutions benefiting employees while contributing to the ambition of PSA back in the race and fight with the best.”

Should the programme succeed, studies on this employment strategy will indicate what methods can be effectively applied to other sites, or even other groups, throughout France.

The president of Manpower, Alain Roumilhac, emphasizes how the car maker’s new employment strategy may highlight a ground-breaking method of human resource practices. Roumilhac stated, “This innovative partnership with PSA precursor and demonstrates our shared vision of a new form of work, putting at the center of our approach to both sustainable employability of our interim and economic performance of our customers. This signature reflects the ManpowerGroup capacity to support companies in their adaptations and HR challenges.”

Peugeot Citroën, the world’s second largest automobile manufacturer, is currently attending the current Frankfurt Motor Show, otherwise known as the International Automobile Exhibition (IAE). During this event, the company is expected to unveil its new concept vehicle, FRACTAL, whilst also premiering the latest versions of the 308 R Hybrid and the 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport.
