Top 5 places to visit in France

France is a beautiful country. With a wide variety of landscapes ranging from mountains and forests to beaches, France really does have it all. The laid back culture and vibrant towns all add to France’s unique charm. With influences from a variety of different eras and countries, France is like no other place you will ever visit. Picking just 5 places you must visit in France was a tough task for deVere Group, be we have put together this list for you of the most beautiful and unique places in France. Here is deVere Group’s top 5 places to visit in France.

1 Loire Valley:

For many travelers the Loire Valley is quintessential France, an area of spectacular châteaux and vineyards, forest and field, snaking rivers flowing leisurely through sleepy villages. Of course, it’s the château that lure many travelers here and nowhere else on earth do you find so many. In fact, Château d’Ussé inspired Sleeping Beauty. Leonardo da Vinci is buried in the Château at Amboise and the nearby Clos Lucé, his former home, contains models of some of his inventions.

2 Midi-Pyrenees Region:

The Midi-Pyrenees is one of the most varied regions in France. Its north has steep wooded valleys brimming with medieval towns, and the land morphs into gently rolling sunflower-covered fields as you move further south, and then changes atmosphere and beauty again as you near Pyrenees and the Spanish border. Toulouse, the most famous city in the region, was once a stop for pilgrims who passed through on their way to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Today it’s a bustling university city and the center for France’s high-tech aerospace industry (you can tour the plants of Airbus and Aérospatiale) and France’s National Center for Space Research is also located here.

3 Alsace:

The Alsace, which lies on the vast flats between the Rhine River and the Vosges Mountains in northeastern France, is more Germanic than French in terms of its heritage, culture and cuisine. Alsace’s villages are all brightly painted, half-timbered, steep-roofed houses makes it unlike any other region in France. You will feel like you are in Germany. The Alsatian city of Mulhouse is a manufacturing center. A few of the sites that are definitely worth visiting are the French National Railroad Museum, the Cité de l’Automobile and a car museum that contains the world’s largest collection of Bugatti’s. It’s a car lover’s dream.

4 Western Normandy:

Normandy has played a critical role in history ever since local hero William the Conqueror set sail for England from there in the 11th century. However, this beautiful and iconic town is most famous for when the Allies stormed its beaches in 1944. With more things to do in Normandy than you can physically fit in during a week’s visit, you will never be bored. In addition to the beaches be sure to visit breathtaking Mont Saint-Michel (it’s even better at sunset), an ancient Island-Abbey that somehow escaped the devastations of World War II. See Rouen and its beautiful cathedral and old town, as well as the world-famous Bayeux tapestry in the Centre Guillaume-le-Conquérant in Bayeux.

5 Paris:

How could we miss the iconic and well-loved Paris from our list. With beautiful architecture and museums, this charming city is always stunning no matter what the weather. Paris is just as beautiful and breathtaking in the snow and sun as it is in the rain. With the Eifel Tower, La ’Louvre & Arc de Triumph to name but a few places that are a must see, Paris is full of amazing places to discover and explore. Have a fresh coffee in one of the many piazzas or enjoy a glass of French wine whilst people watching in the bustling streets. Whatever your idea of a perfect vacation is, deVere Group can assure you that Paris has it all.
